Una sorprendente y nueva aplicación de la energía eólica, aprovechar el viento creado por los vehículos que se desplazan a gran velocidad por las autovías y autopistas. Este tipo de turbinas han sido ideadas por Joe, un estudiante de arquitectura de Arizona. Su proyecto propone la instalación de numerosas turbinas horizontales que según sus cálculos, podrían generar 9,600Kw de energía anualmente por pareja de estos aerogeneradores.Sin duda podría ser una forma muy interesante de convertir la parte de la energía que derrocha el vehículo en energía eléctrica. Es paradójico ya que realmente conseguimos energía a partir de la combustión de combustibles fósiles, pero este tipo de vehículos seguirán circulando por nuestras autovías durante muchos años hasta que tengamos una alternativa eléctrica o cualquier otra.
Se me ocurre trasladar esta idea a los trenes de alta velocidad o a los metros. Imaginemos un túnel de metro o AVE con numerosas turbinas de este tipo que pueden estar realmente cerca de la parte superior del tren, ya que la altura siempre va a ser la misma, para aprovechar más aún las turbulencias del aire moviéndose a velocidades altísimas. Este tipo de iniciativas son las que vamos a ver llegar en los próximos 10 años.

Me parece una excelente idea que debería implementarse en todas las autopistas, la idea del metro, que sugieres también me parece excelente, todos deberíamos estar pensando en recuperar la enorme cantidad de energía que se desperdicia. Los de la fórmula uno están por implementar un sistema que aprovecha energía de las frenadas de sus máquinas acumulándolas en baterías, pienso que cuando los costos lo permitan, esto seria otra idea para aplicarla en los autos comunes.
