La nueva herramienta de google, Insights for Search que nos muestra que busca la gente en google, es realmente últil en multitud de campos. A día de hoy casi todos los usuarios de internet lo primero que hacemos al conectarnos es abrir google, de esta forma el indicador de lo que la gente busca es el reflejo directo de las inquietudes de nuestra sociedad.
Desde mi punto de vista esta herramienta es revolucionaria no tanto por la herramienta en sí, sino por la repercusión social que trae. Nunca antes podían datarse de una forma tan exacta las preocupaciones de la gente, por ejemplo, se podía saber que periódico compraba la gente pero no qué artículo se leía más. Además todo este tipo de estudios estadísticos tienen un universo limitado. En esta herramienta los datos son universales. Cada vez más, todo es datable.
Además no sólo te muestra lo que la gente busca en google, sino que también te permite poner una palabra y te muestra el volumen de búsquedas ordenadas regionalmente. Por ejemplo, he consultado la evolución de la búsqueda de la cadena «cambio climático» en España desde 2004 hasta hoy, y los resultados son,
Se observa perfectamente el incremento de búsquedas a partir del verano de 2006, y también se observa como durante el verano baja el número de consultas por las vacaciones y porque la gente nos preocupamos un poco menos de todo. Podéis probar las palabras crisis, fama, eurocopa, OT, PSOE, … se ve como la herramienta funciona a la perfección puesto que hay picos de búsqueda en los periodos que corresponden a cada evento.
En resumen, que google nos brinda una herramienta maravillosa que tiene miles de aplicaciones, y que creo que revoluciona la sociedad de la información poniendo en la mano de cualquier usuario información muy valiosa sobre las inquietudes personales a nivel mundial y/o local.
